This story is a sad one in that it involves the death of a young lady who was attending Dentsville High.


Miss Wallee Davis was 17 years old when she died of Pneumococcal Meningitis on May 8, 1944, She is buried at Spears Creek Baptist Church in Pontiac. Ten days prior to her death she had been diagnosed with pneumonia which apparently later turned into meningitis.


Her parents were George and Gertrude Davis. Wallee had four sisters; Gertie May Wilson, Betty Jean Davis, Agnes Davis, Eleanor Davis. On half-brother, George Davis; Three half-sisters; Mamie Bickley, Tailulah Butler, and Lillie Davis. Her grandmother was Mary Meetze.


Her funeral was held at 5:00 May 10, 1944, the pallbearers were Elerby Dabbs, Robert Pigpen, Roger Ellison, W.M. Gladden, Ensley Coleman, and Lonnie Jacobs.
